A very special – and delicious!!! – concert.
The program “Hidden Gems of Russian Romantic Music” introduces the Dutch public to the magnificent but rarely performed Russian composers mid XIX – beginning of the XX century. But then in quite a special way – combined with a Russian culinary experience.
The concert starts at 19:00 and lasts 1h 15 min without a break, followed by the walking dinner.
This offers a unique musical, culinary and social total experience stimulating all senses throughout the night: the charming Russian chamber music is combined with a delicious Russian-style walking dinner, and a meet-and-greet with the musicians. In this way you get to exchange impressions with your family and friends, chare your passion for music with the young virtuosos, enjoy the mastery of skilled chefs and all that in a beautiful setting. A night full of surprises, a true gem!
The concert takes place in the Bethlehem Church (3 min walk from the Noorderpark metro station), which has recently been transformed into a modern concert hall with beautiful acoustics. This season opens with this very special evening – the program “Hidden Gems of Russian Romantic Music”, a collaboration between the Russian and Dutch young talents. Coached by Maria Milstein, an internationally acknowledged violinist with Russian background who also won the Dutch National Music Prize in 2018, six young musicians aged 13-16 years come on stage. Three are the students of the famous Moscow Gnessin Special School of Music, where Maria once started to play the violin, and three come from the Sweelinck Academy, the prep-school at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she now teaches.
The concert will have an unusual interactive format: Maria will introduce the composers with each piece, conduct mini-interviews with the musicians and respond to the questions from the audience. Program:
