We are very happy to announce that all 3 of the Dutch soloists who are taking part in our project IYTO (International Young Talent Orchestra) in August were recently recognized at important competitions. Andrej van Brakel, Kira van der Woerd and Sunniva Skaug win awards in Rotterdam and Vienna:

·   Kira van der Woerd – 2nd prize (category 1) and

·   Sunniva Skaug – 2nd prize (category2) at PCC Klassiek in Rotterdam (regio West 1)

·   Andrej van Brakel – Silver medal at the International Music Competition in Vienna

 

This has been a very successful month! On February 16th the violinist Kira van der Woerd (14 y.o.) won 3 awards at the Prinses Christina Conconrs Klassiek 2020: the 2nd prize, the Donemus prize and the Domestica Rotterdam prize. Sunniva Skaug (16 y.o.) received second prize in Caregory 2.

There was more success in Vienna: at the 2nd Vienna International Music Competition the cellist Andrej van Brakel (14 y.o.) won a silver medal in the category Strings – Young Artist. The jury addressed his performance with very warm comments: “It was the consensus of the jury that you possess an outstanding talent, a remarkable musicality and a very accomplished technique. Your performances are unique and moving, and your musical skills are very solid. The members of the artistic commission would like to send you their special recognition for your great musicality.”
